The pharmaceutical industry tries to reverse engineer nature to produce synthetic versions of natural remedies which they can patent, get FDA approval for, then charge you $500 a month for. Of course 92% of that gets picked up by your insurance company, which jacks up the premiums every year on the group.

We make an unrealistic demand when we ask for something that will keep us healthy and allow us to keep ingesting poisons. If you think we haven't made such a demand, just look at the popular products coming from the pharmaceutical industry.

That if there were a pain-relief supplement around the producer would be forced to place the following warning on the bottle because of pressure from the FDA:

Do not take this product to manage pain.

I was at the pharmacy on Saturday picking up a prescription. This is one that I have taken some form of in the past. Because it was a differently named generic I had to speak with the pharmacist. The conversation went like this:

Pharmacist: Have you taken this before?
Me: Um not that one in particular, but I've taken "namebrand 1," "namebrand 2" and "generic."
Pharmacist: Okay well it's the same as those others.

Something struck me as odd about that exchange. Normally when we recall a resume for someone we're telling them things we're proud of or at least things we ought to be proud of. I didn't feel proud after this recitation. I felt and feel that I have too much experience taking these medications. My goal, which began before Saturday, is to reduce my weight and my need of these these drugs.
